Salù Iwadi Studio is a design studio at the intersection of creativity and cultural exploration, dedicated to uncovering and celebrating the rich heritage of the African diaspora.

Our mission is to blend modern innovation with historical methodologies, creating objects, spaces, and experiences that pay homage to the diverse and vibrant heritage of the various cultures of the continent.

Salù Iwadi Studio was founded between Nigeria and Senegal by architect, designer, artist Toluwalase Rufai and brand strategist, curator Sandia Nassila in 2023 on the belief that design is a powerful medium for storytelling and connection.

We strive to bridge the gap between the past, the present and the future, weaving narratives that transcend time, space and place.

Philosophy

At Salù Iwadi Studio, we believe in the transformative power of design to inspire, uplift, and connect. Our philosophy is rooted in the understanding that Africa and its diaspora is a source of endless inspiration and creativity. We aim to challenge archetypes, break down barriers, and contribute to a global dialogue that recognizes the richness and complexity of African diasporic cultures.

Approach

Our approach is at the interconnection between tradition and modernity. We meticulously study historical methodologies, traditional craftsmanship, and indigenous materials, infusing them with contemporary aesthetics. Through this fusion, we create designs that serve as a testament to the resilience and creativity found here at home.

  • Our meticulously crafted objects and designs tell stories of cultural heritage and contemporary expression. Each piece is a testament to the fusion of tradition and modernity.

  • Our spatial designs aim to create immersive environments that evoke a sense of connection to the various African cultures. From residential spaces to commercial interiors, we bring cultural narratives to life, fostering a dialogue between the past and the present.

  • We curate unforgettable experiences that celebrate the diversity of the African cultures. Whether through installations, events, or exhibitions, we invite audiences to engage with and explore the richness of our shared heritage.
